Questions to be addressed are as following: vIs the tool computer based or web based? vWhat does the tool cost? vWhat data does the tool produce? vHow can this data be used to drive instruction and to differentiate? Formative and Summative Assessment Tool Definition Formative assessment tools promote student learning and are used throughout the course of classroom instruction. Formative assessment helps teachers determine whether timely curricular changes are required to ensure student skill mastery level. Evaluation is used to determine student achievement and the course material assessment tools required to help teachers devise instructional strategies and curricula according to the students learning style. Formative assessment tools are frequently used as making observations, implementing collaborative activities, quizzes questioning and formulating objectives and setting goals.A mutual understanding of the teacher expectations of the students learning process should be established at the onset of the course students tend to do better when given their learning target and goal, and detailed directions on how to achieve their goals. The more analyses gathered about students, the clearer the picture the teacher has about student achievement or where struggle areas may occur. (Garrison and Ehringhaus 2006) Summative Assessments are given periodically to determine at a particular point in time what students know and do not know. Many associate summative assessments only with standardized tests such as state assessments, but they are also used at and are an important part of district and classroom programs. Summative assessment at the district and classroom level is an accountability measure that is generally used as part of the student grading process. (Garrison and Ehringhaus 2006)

Formative and Summative Assessment Tool Definition
Formative assessment tools promote student learning and are used throughout the course of classroom instruction. Formative assessment helps teachers determine whether timely curricular changes are required to ensure student skill mastery level. Evaluation is used to determine student achievement and the course material assessment tools required to help teachers devise instructional strategies and curricula according to the students learning style. Formative assessment tools are frequently used as making observations, implementing collaborative activities, quizzes questioning and formulating objectives and setting goals. A mutual understanding of the teacher expectations of the students learning process should be established at the onset of the course students tend to do better when given their learning target and goal, and detailed directions on how to achieve their goals. The more analyses gathered about students, the clearer the picture the teacher has about student achievement or where struggle areas may occur. (Garrison and Ehringhaus 2006)
Summative Assessments are given periodically to determine at a particular point in time what students know and do not know. Many associate summative assessments only with standardized tests such as state assessments, but they are also used at and are an important part of district and classroom programs. Summative assessment at the district and classroom level is an accountability measure that is generally used as part of the student grading process. (Garrison and Ehringhaus 2006)
